In my early teen years, I got really into DDR. I would always want to find arcades to go play it in. My mom thought it was a good idea, seeing DDR = Exercise, and went out of her way to buy me my first non Nintendo console complete with DDR game and dancepad. It's really too bad those plasticy flimsy dancepads are pretty hard to use, and are not nearly the same experience as playing in an arcade. Still, getting my first Playstation 2, my first Sony console, was a big deal at the time as I suddenly had access to a ton of games and franchises that I had never had access to before.
I picked up a lot of different games at the local used gamestore and also was able to borrow games from friends to expand my gaming horizons. Truly a revolutionary time in my gaming experience. I really enjoyed horror games, as I was always a fan of horror movies, and set out to play as many of those as I could, as well as other recommended franchises such as rpgs and platformers.
